KDSB settles it’s 2024 budget

By Tim Davidson Dec 22, 2023 | 4:53 PM

The Kenora District Services Board is looking at a fairly significant increase in it’s budget next year.

The KDSB board met Thursday and approved a $92.1 million budget.

Henry Wall is CAO and say that marks a 9.65 percent increase over last year.

“Overall, it was a difficult year just with respect to the impact that inflation had on things like materials, services, and especially on food prices,” explains Wall.

“Fairly significant impacts throughout the organization just with the increased cost of living.”

Wall says the impact on local communities is 3.61 percent.

“The main increase is through the additional funding through the Canada-wide Early Learning and Childcare program coming through to the region. And as part that, the expansion plans announced earlier this year.”

Overall, the Town of Ignace has the lowest increase at 2.93 percent, Dryden at 3.44 percent and Kenora at 3.63.

A full breakdown of the budget will be available early in the new year.
