Majority of Canadians personally optimistic for 2024: poll

The majority of Canadians are optimistic about their personal lives heading into the New Year, according to a survey by Narrative Research.

However, just over half feel pessimistic about the state of the world in general, for 2024.

Findings show 49 per cent of those living in Ontario have a more positive outlook, with the least amount of optimism being in Quebec, at 38 per cent.

Stress also varies by age, according to the poll.

Gen Z is the most optimistic generation, with boomers being the least.

Narrative Research says when they asked Canadians what gives them hope and optimism about the future, they received a wide variety of answers.

They include signs of economic growth and stability, to more personal reasons such as personal achievements and goals, family and relationships, health and wellbeing improvements and resilience and adaptability in the face of challenges.

One in ten say they positive global events and developments around the world, give them hope.
