A fire at a Marathon home Friday has claimed a life.

Ontario Provincial Police say they, along with firefighters and paramedics responded to a structural fire on Sund Crescent around 11:00 a.m.

Crews were able to extinguish the blaze and an individual was located inside the building, however they were pronounced deceased by EMS.

The Office of the Fire Marshall has been called in to further examine the circumstances of the fire.

No further details have been released.
