The Strait Pirates have a new interim coach.

The club has appointed Jesse MacLean for the remainder of the season.

MacLean was coaching the Cabot Highlanders before taking the new job.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jesse as our interim head coach. His proven leadership, coaching expertise, and passion for the game make him an ideal fit for the Strait Pirates,” said Club President, David Morgan. “We believe that under Jesse’s guidance, our team will excel and contend for the league championship and we’re very thankful to the executive of the Highlanders that have supported Jesse in taking on this additional set of coaching responsibilities.”

MacLean expressed his excitement about the opportunity, stating, “I am honored to take on the role of interim head coach for the Strait Pirates. I look forward to working with the talented players and contributing to the rich hockey tradition of this club that I grew up watching from the stands with my grandfather.”

He takes over from long time coach and General Manager Tim MacMillan.

“Tim leaves us with big shoes to fill as he has been an integral part of the Pirates for a long time.” said Morgan. “As an organization made up of volunteers, we have been fortunate to benefit from Tim’s skills and vision for the team for a long time.”
