Saint John losing another uptown eatery

There will soon be one less place to grab a bite to eat in uptown Saint John.

Uptown Eatery on King Street is closing its doors for good on Dec. 18.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the restaurant said the closure is due to an “unforeseen family issue.”

“Closing our doors is tough, but we leave with gratitude for the love you’ve given us. Though this chapter ends, the memories live on,” said the post.

The restaurant opened its doors at 68 King Street in June 2020 after delays caused by the pandemic.

It serves a blend of Middle Eastern and Canadian cuisine with a multitude of fresh ingredients and vegetarian options.

Uptown Eatery replaced another restaurant, Urban Deli, which had operated in that location for a decade.

Urban Deli closed its doors for the final time in December 2019 after the building was sold to new owners.
