The Municipality of Digby is one of four communities in Nova Scotia that will receive than $180,000 of federal funding from the Municipal Asset Management Program to manage municipal infrastructure.
It’s to ensure that bridges, arenas, drinking and wastewater systems are working as efficiently as possible.
Digby will receive $38,880 toward its asset register that will include attribute data such as condition, age, material and support a preliminary 5-year capital program.
“Investments in infrastructure asset management projects will help improve the quality of life in municipalities across Nova Scotia. Today’s funding announcement will help them plan and manage their infrastructure based on reliable data to create strong, sustainable and affordable communities,” said Sean Fraser, Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities.
Under the Investing in Canada Plan, the federal government is investing over $280 billion over 12 years in municipal asset management, public transit projects, green infrastructure, social infrastructure, trade and transportation routes and rural and northern communities across Canada.
