Public washroom finally being installed

By Tim Davidson Dec 14, 2023 | 10:04 AM

Kenora’s newest public washroom is being installed this week.

It’s located in what will be a pocket park on 1st Street South.

City clerk Heather Pihulak  says the state-of-art washroom has been talked about for some time.

“This project has been in the works for a couple of years thanks to the Kenora District Services Board as well the Habourtown BIZ,” explains Pihulak.

“This was contemplated back when they did the realignment of 1st Street and the revitalization of that area.”

The new washroom is self-cleaning and Pihulak adds the washroom has another special feature.

“The painting that is outside of it, is actually a wrap that secured to the washroom, but it was designed by an artist (Cash Akoza).  You know it has a lot of northern features.  We’re really excited about the mural panels that will be reflective of our area.”

Pihulak says they will be holding a special ceremony next Tuesday for an official grand opening at noon.
