Extreme weather delays high-speed Internet project in Yarmouth

By Kevin Northup Dec 13, 2023 | 11:17 AM

Delays in getting high-speed Internet to all areas of the Municipality of Yarmouth.

The project was supposed to be completed this month.

Warden John Cunningham says they have a contract with Bell Canada for the final phase of the initiative.

“With all the hurricanes, floods and wildfires across Nova Scotia, it’s been a challenge. The completion date is now set for June, 2024,” says Warden Cunningham.

He adds it’s important to get Internet to all areas of the municipality.

“We need Internet service in rural areas, so people can work from home and be in touch with the world. It’s important that this gets completed as quickly as possible.”

Cunningham says there are still some areas to get connected in Carleton, Kemptville, Port Maitland and more.
