Ontario’s police watchdog has been called in to investigate the injury sustained by a man while in police custody here in the city.
According to the Special Investigation’s Unit the injury occurred on the evening of December 6th when officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service were called to the area of Court Street and River Street around 6:30 p.m.
An interaction occurred between the 32 year old man and the officers, requiring him to be taken to hospital.
There he was diagnosed with what is being described as a serious injury, however he was treated and released.
The SIU says one subject official and two witness officials have been designated so far.
No further details have been released.
