What does the community want in an expanded Mariners Centre?
That was talked about at a recent meeting, as the public viewed the latest designs for a new, separate building on the site.
Nicole Albright with the Mariners Centre Expansion Committee says there was a positive buzz.
“People who were there, they were really positive and happy with what they saw. There were some good questions. For the most part, people seemed pretty happy,” says Albright.
One the main concerns heard was the lack of a basketball or volleyball court in the design.
Albright says it’s hard to please everyone, but they’re going to work to make sure it’s what the community needs.
“We’re doing our best to make as many people happy as possible. We want to make this space inclusive and accessible for everybody.”
Albright says it’s important that people feel heard in this process.
The next steps include gathering the feedback, and seeing a more finalized design in the new year.
