Thunder Bay Police Service responded to a call of a motor vehicle collision in the parking lot of Northwood Park Plaza on Edward Street just before 6:00 p.m. on December 9, 2023.

Initial reports indicated that a single vehicle had struck two children and a parked car and then fled the scene.

Investigation led officers to a nearby address shortly after the collision.

The suspect vehicle was located, and the driver was arrested.

The suspect was arrested and charged with two counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm, 2 counts of impaired operation causing bodily harm, fail to stop after an accident causing bodily harm, 80 Plus Operation (Impaired Operation), failure to comply with a release order.

They were remanded into custody at the Thunder Bay District Jail.

TBPS highlighted that “A family member that was with the children reacted quickly to this incident, nearly getting the children out of harms way. Without his quick action, this incident would likely have been far more severe. “
