By Tim Davidson Dec 5, 2023 | 12:47 PM

The Canadian Mental Health Association is showing off it’s new van.

Sara Dias is executive director and says the Mobile Mental Health and Addictions Clinic is visiting four communities in the area.

“The CMHA is the first in northwestern Ontario and is a partnership between multiple organizations,” explains Dias.

“We have a robust steering committee from variety of different community members that sit on there.  We have representative from each of those communities and partnering organizations.”

Dias adds this is one of six mobile clinics that are operating in the province.

“The Mobile Mental Health and Addictions Clinic is low barrier access to services.  So it’s an entry point into the mental health and addiction system and to connect you to existing services in the community.”

Dias says the Mobile clinic has been operational since September and they are working to have a full staff.

“We have a lead who specializes in addictions support.  We have a case manager and we have a service navigator.  We also have our contracts with psychiatry, both youth and adult.”

Dias says the clinic has weekly stops in Grassy Narrows, Eagle Lake, Sioux Narrows and Nestor Falls.
