Kenora city council has settled on a 4.22 percent increase in the municipal budget for 2024.

There was some good news.

The city will have an extra $308,000 to work with.

Mayor Andrew Poirier says the city’s allocation of provincial infrastructure funding has been re-calculated.

Council has agreed to split money with half going towards reducing the tax burden on tax payers and the other half going toward infrastructure project council had chopped to save money.

Council has agreed to pass the capital budget on December 20th, but hold off on the operating budget until final levy increases come in from the Kenora Homes for the Aged and the Kenora District Services Board.
