TBPS releases updates on multiple collisions

The Thunder Bay Police Service has released an update on multiple collisions that occurred on November 30, 2023.

Update 1:

A collision between a pedestrian and a commercial vehicle occurred on the merge lane onto Dawson Road from Highway 11-17 just before 2:30 p.m.

The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre where they were pronounced deceased.

Police are attempting to locate next of kin, and the identification of the victim is being withheld at this time.

Update 2:

A head-on collision occurred on Oliver Road just after 3:30

So far the investigation has revealed that an eastbound car and a westbound truck collided and both vehicles were spun around causing a great deal of damage.

The impact was significant enough to have the engine block of the truck ejected from the vehicle.

Three individuals from the vehicles were required to be extricated by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, all three were transported to the hospital by EMS. The exact extent of the injuries is unknown but are not believed to be life-threatening. All three remain in the hospital.

Update 3:

Just before 8:00 p.m. on November 30, a pedestrian was struck crossing Fort William Road in the area of Intercity Mall.

The pedestrian was crossing the street not at a controlled intersection from the east side of the roadway to the west side of the roadway when he was struck by a southbound vehicle.

A 29-year-old male was taken to the hospital the exact extent of his injuries is unknown but is not believed to be life-threatening.
