The Lakeside Community Centre on 1492 St. Margaret’s Bay Road will soon be closing to begin construction of a new facility.

Halifax Regional Municipality said in a news release it will be renamed The Beachville Lakeside Timberlea Recreation Centre and located at the same address.

It will include all of the same amenities of the existing Centre but also include a community kitchen, full sized gym and a splash spad.

The 28,804 sq. ft. Centre is anticipated to open in 2025 and will be entirely net-zero with electric vehicle charging stations.

As for programs, they will all continue at various location during the construction period.
