Wednesday’s house fire in North Dryden has sent one person to hospital with life threatening injuries.

In a release to social media the Dryden Fire Service says it was dispatched to the home on the corner of Highway 17 and Cecil Avenue at 12:15 a.m., where responding crews learned one person remained inside the home after the fire broke out on the second floor.

They were able to quickly knock down the fire and rescue the victim, who was rushed to the Dryden Regional Health Sciences Centre by paramedics.

A total of 24 firefighters and eight apparatus was required to fully extinguish the fire, with crews clearing the scene, shortly before 3:00 a.m.

The blaze also prompted a lane closure on Highway 17 for several hours due to its proximity to the fire.

A request has been made by DFS to the Ontario Fire Marshal to investigate the cause of the fire.
