This year’s cruise ship season exceeded expectations, according to the Atlantic Canada Cruise Association.

More than 600 cruise ships came to the region from April through August, with a 28 percent increase in port calls and over 868,000 passengers able to explore places Halifax, Charlottetown and Corner Brook.

The ACCA said niche ports maintained their appeal by drawing in over 34,000 passengers.

“We applaud the Atlantic Canada Cruise Association on yet another successful cruise season. The dedication to providing an exceptional experience for cruise guests showcases the strength and vibrancy of the region’s cruise industry,” said Kelly Craighead, CEO of the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA).

There were also exceptional performances with record-breaking activity at the Port of Sydney and Saint John was ‘Port of the Year’ being one of the top three cruise ports in the world.

The ACCA added that they extend their gratitude to all its ports and partners who contributed to the success of the 2023 cruise ship season.
