Grand Parade may no longer be a designated outdoor location for those experiencing homelessness in Halifax.
The area has recently been a sea of tents, as affordability has become a major issue in our city.
Grand Parade is one of several designated locations for those who need shelter, however, HRM says they want to reduce the number of tents allowed in the area, down to eight, citing safety concerns during snow removal this winter, as the reason.
Municipal outreach workers and street navigators are communicating with those currently sheltering in Grand Parade to offer assistance, as required.
HRM says as more sheltering options become available, they will reassess Grand Parade as a designated location.
