It will make for heavy traffic throughout the city and across the harbour, especially as the holiday season kicks into high gear and the Parade of Lights is on Saturday.

“There is no good time to close one of our bridges,” expalains Halifax Harbour Bridges CEO Tony Wright. “but as the structures age they require an increasing amount of maintenance,”

Closure details:

Friday Nov. 24, 7 p.m. to Monday Nov. 27 at 5:30 a.m.

Friday Dec. 1, 7 p.m. to Monday Dec. 4, 5:30 a.m.

Two 10,000 kilogram deck sections need to be replaced and will be the focus of the work over the next few weekends.

The Alderney ferry will be free from 3 PM – 10 PM on Saturday with 15-minute departs. A non-perishable food donation to the Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank is suggested.
