2 arrested following search warrant

An investigation into drug trafficking in the Fort Frances area has yielded charges against two residents in the community.

Just before the noon hour on November 16th members of the Ontario Provincial Police along with the Treaty Three Police Service executed a search warrant at a Fourth Street West home.

There officers located and seized an undisclosed quantity of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl and hydromorphone.

Additionally, an unspecified amount of Canadian currency and other items associated with the drug trade were also seized.

Two people were arrested during the raid including a 40 year old man who has been charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – contrary to Section 5 (2) of the CDSA – four counts

·      Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada – contrary to Section 354 (1) (a) of the Criminal Code (CC)

·      Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to Section 88 of the CC

·      Failure to Comply with Release Order – other than to attend court contrary to Section 145 (5) (a) of the CC – three counts

Meanwhile, a 42 year old woman faces charges of:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – contrary to Section 5 (2) of the CDSA – four counts

·      Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada – contrary to Section 354 (1) (a) of the CC

·      Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to Section 88 of the CC

The OPP did not disclose a seizure of any weapons during the raid.

Both of the accused appeared in court on Friday.
