A three month long investigation in to drug trafficking in Toronto, Project Finito, has yielded an impressive result.

“This total of 992 kilograms of illicit drugs has an estimated street level value of $90 million. It is the single largest seizure of crystal methamphetamine and powdered cocaine in the history of the Toronto Police Service.”

Superintendent Steve Watts says the service believes the drugs were bound for distribution not only in the city but also to the rest of Ontario and even eastern Canada.

Broken down the seizure consists of:

  • 551 kilograms of cocaine
  • 441 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine

Additionally police seized one firearm, one motor vehicle and approximately $95,100 in Canadian currency.

As a result seven people, all from the GTA, were arrested in a number of search warrants executed in October.

Toronto Police allege the seven arrested individuals a part of sophisticated network involved in the distribution of large volumes of both cocaine and methamphetamine.
