Water and Sewer users in Dryden should get ready for a rate increase.

City council is set to receive a report from staff outlining an increase of 6.3 percent effective December 29th of this year.

The report notes Dryden has only seen three years with rate increases since 2012, 10 percent in 2014, 5 percent in 2019 and another 10 percent last year.

It also states year end balances of reserve funds for both waterworks and wastewater are significantly lower than what they are targeted for.

With just  $924,753 of a targeted $2.6 million and $442,878 thousand of a targeted $1.3 million in each fund respectively.

Council is also set to receive a notice of motion from Councillor Catherine Keiwning, requesting council direct staff to investigate the feasibility of the Food Cycler pilot program.

Additionally, prior to tonight’s meeting a public meeting is being held as part of a proposal for a temporary bylaw.

The request is from the owner of a lot on Government Street seeking relief from another bylaw to allow them to maintain the number of storage containers on the lot for a duration of three years.

The public meeting gets underway at 5:00 p.m. with council going into closed session at 6:00 p.m. before entering open session later on.
