MADD Canada brings sober driving message to N.B. students

By Regis Phillips Nov 14, 2023 | 6:31 AM

MADD Canada is partnering with NB Liquor to deliver a life-saving sober driving message to students.

The School Program features educational videos for students in Grade 7 through Grade 12.

Each video presentation features a fictionalized story, followed by real-life stories from victims of impaired driving.

“Between the realistic fictional storylines that feature young people having to make choices about alcohol, drugs and driving, and the impactful personal stories of real-life victims of impaired driving, our School Program delivers a powerful and unforgettable message,” Tanya Hansen Pratt, president of MADD Canada, said in a news release.

“Most importantly, the program helps young people understand that they have the power to prevent impaired driving.”

Thousands of students from across New Brunswick will see the presentation and be part of the conversation about reducing impaired driving and keeping themselves and their peers safe.

Lori Stickles, president of NB Liquor said they are proud to support the work that MADD Canada does.

“We are dedicated to our commitment to safety and promoting responsible consumption, and bringing the sober driving message to students is an important part of our social responsibility strategy,” said Stickles in the release.

Following the presentations, schools receive an Educators’ Guide and School Kits with additional scenarios to help teachers continue the sober driving conversation throughout the whole school year.
