Drugs and weapons seized in traffic stop

Two Fort Frances residents have been arrested following a traffic stop in the community and resulted in the seizure of drugs and other items associated with drug trafficking.

On November 11th Ontario Provincial Police on patrol in the area of Fifth Street East pulled the vehicle over just after 10:30 a.m. as part of a routine traffic stop.

During the investigation officers discovered and seized an undisclosed amount of crack cocaine, fentanyl, oxycodone and Canadian currency.

Additionally a firearm and an imitation firearm were also secured.

A 41 year old has been charged with:

  •       Possession of Imitation Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  •      Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  •       Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
  •       Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (Other than Heroin) – two counts

Meanwhile a 36 year old faces the charges of:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (Other than Heroin) – two counts

The 41 year old is being held in custody and is expected to appear in court at an undisclosed later date, meanwhile the 36 year old has since been released and will appear in court on December 18th.
