Donkin Coal Mine’s remaining staff have been laid off after one of the longest stop work order’s in Nova Scotia’s recent history.

The stoppage has been in effect since July after a couple of roof falls.

No one was injured in the incidents.

Morien Resources says Kameron Coal has decided to place the operation into an idled state with no timeline to resume operations.

The company says prior to last summer’s SWO, Kameron was employing over 130 full-time staff.
