COVID outbreak declared over at Rainycrest

By Randy Thoms Nov 8, 2023 | 4:11 AM

A COVID outbreak at Rainycrest Long-term Care Home in Fort Frances is now over.

It had been declared on October 10.

Restrictions that were in place since then have been lifted.

Other safety procedures and infection prevention control practices continue as do recently enhanced masking requirements in non-outbreak situations.

Staff and volunteers must now wear a mask when inside, whether there is an outbreak or not.

Riverside Health Care is also reminding residents to take preventive steps to prevent the spread of infectious diseases at the home.
• Washing hands often, for at least 15 seconds with soap and warm water or by using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer;
• Maintaining good cough and sneeze etiquette (into a tissue, your sleeve or elbow);
• Immediately putting all used tissues in the garbage;
• Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, or mouth; and
• Staying at home if sick, to avoid spreading infections to others.
