The Confederation College Thunderhawks Cross Country Running Team delivered a strong performance at the Ontario College Athletic Association Provincial Championships hosted by Conestoga College in Cambridge, ON.

Jamie Kovacic, a veteran Thunderhawks athlete, achieved an impressive second overall position with a remarkable time of 23:46 in the 6km race. This time was a personal best for Kovacic in her third and final OCAA race, and she will represent Confederation College at the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association National Championships in Truro, NS for the third consecutive year.

Tony Elikana is in his first year on the team and completed the 8km course with a strong time of 27:30, securing the 13th overall position. Elikana’s remarkable achievement earned him a spot at the National Championships, a remarkable feat considering his first-ever race took place in May 2023.

Callum Richter, a veteran OCAA athlete, ran a smart race, finishing with a respectable time of 32:39 and securing the 58th position. Richter is a two-sport OCAA athlete who also participated in golf earlier this month.

Quinn Dodds, a former track athlete, made an impressive transition to cross-country running in September 2023. Dodds achieved a personal best time of 35:57, securing the 72nd position, a testament to their determination and hard work.

Head Coach Alain Gosselin and College Athletic Director Susan Tucker will accompany Kovacic and Elikana to the CCAA National Cross Country Running Championships, which will be hosted by Dalhousie University in Truro on November 11th.
