Nova Scotia paddlers earn three golds at Pan Am Games

Nova Scotia paddlers have earned gold at the Pan Am Games in Chile, Friday.

Kayaker Michelle Russell, 31, from Fall River won the women’s K1 500 meters in 1:51.25 seconds.

This is her fourth career Pan Am medal.

Ian Gaudet, 20, from Dartmouth, also earned gold in men’s K2 alongside Simon McTavish, 27, from Ontario, crossing the finish line at 1:30.45.

Gaudet made his senior-level debut in a major competition.

Craig Spence, 28, also from Dartmouth, won gold in men’s C2 500 with Alex Plomteaux, 23, from Quebec, with a time of 1:42.12.

Other Canadians secured medals Friday morning, including, Sophia Jensen in women’s C200, while the women’s K4 500 won silver.

Canada now sits at 40 meddles, already 5 more than in 2019 in Lima.
