A Moncton man has been charged following a drug trafficking investigation in the community.

In August, RCMP began an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in the Moncton area.

On October 24, police executed a search warrant at a residence on Elmwood Drive in connection with the investigation.

During the search, authorities seized quantities of what is believed to be cocaine, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia and money.

A 55-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine. He was remanded into custody after a court appearance on October 25.

Police are asking the public with information about illegal drug activity in their neighbourhood to contact their local police.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by visiting their website.
