New youth council named

Seven youths have been named to Grand Council Treaty 3’s Youth Executive Council.

It includes three primary members and four proxies.

The primary members hail from Eagle Lake, Buffalo Point and Big Island.

The council offers a voice for youth and acts as a liaison between Chief and Council.

“The Anishinaabe Nation celebrates the selection of our new Youth Executive Council with great pride,” says Ogichidaa Francis Kavanaugh. “Our youth are the foundation of our future, and their voices and involvement in traditional governance complete the circle of our continued success. We look forward to the positive impact they will bring to our communities.”

The newly appointed Youth Executive Council members and their communities are as follows:

Primary Representatives:
Jessica Lee – Migisi Sahgaigan (Eagle Lake)
Ernest Cobiness Jr. – Buffalo Point
Mia Seymour – Naongashiing (Big Island)

Proxies:
Ogema Paypompee – Naotkamegwanning (Whitefish Bay)
Misty Castle – Asubpeeschoseewagong (Grassy Narrows)
Jordan Jack – Wauzhushk Onigum (Rat Portage)
Drae Greene – Naongashiing (Big Island)
