Kenora wins two tourism marketing awards

By Tim Davidson Nov 1, 2023 | 11:43 AM

The City of Kenora and Wake Marketing have won a pair of awards.

They were presented at the recent Economic Developer’s Association of Canada conference in Prince Edward Island.

Stace Gander is the Director of Economic Development and Tourism and says one of the awards was in Brand Identity.

“One was for the new tourism destination brand, which you will see on the banners on light standards in the Kenora Harbourfront area,” explains Gander.

“The brand was created with engagement from visitors, where we asked what makes Kenora an attraction for them.”

The other award was in the digital marketing category for the Ken and Nora social media campaign.

Gander says the recognition means a lot to them.

“It’s huge because we’re evaluated against municipalities who are peers and larger municipalities from across the country. We were recognized for our creativity and our choice.  It’s a bold decision for a municipality to say that the old tourism marketing brand isn’t hitting the mark and to take it in a different direction.”

Kenora competed against municipalities that had economic development budgets of between $200,000 and $600,000.
