Thunder Bay Fire Rescue has a new deputy chief.

Martin Hynna was appointed to the post and began his new duties last Friday.

Hynna was already the acting deputy chief.

He’s also been a firefighter, a training officer and the division chief of training.

Hynna has been with Thunder Fire Rescue since 2000.

Fire chief Greg Hankkio says he brings extensive training, specialized rescue operations and incident management experience.
