Dozens of tickets were issued and vehicles were towed during a recent traffic enforcement operation in our region.
RCMP issued 151 traffic violations during the two-day operation in southeastern New Brunswick, which includes:
- 53 tickets for speeding
- 18 tickets for using hand-held electronic devices while driving
- Nine tickets for not wearing a seatbelt
Police also arrested one person for driving while prohibited, and another having a seven-day roadside suspension. Two other people were issued a court date for driving while suspended.
In addition, 23 vehicles were deemed unsafe and towed at the owner’s expense.
“The focus of the RCMP Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit is on behaviours that are the greatest risk to the public, whether it be driving behaviours or criminal activity,” said Sergeant Ghislain David.
“We all have a role to play when it comes to making our roads and communities safer, and our top priority continues to be keeping the public safe by limiting the number of dangerous drivers on our roadways.”
Police say the public can help to keep roads safe by reporting dangerous drivers.
