A public hearing is coming up on the Municipality of Yarmouth’s new planning strategy.

First reading of the new Municipal strategy and land-use by-law was approved at last week’s council meeting.

Warden John Cunningham says it includes a sensitive environment zone.

“We’ve heard from the public that they want to see some areas of the municipality protected, whether that be coastlines or inland bogs,” said Cunningham.

He says some residents feel they should be expanding the zone, and some feel they shouldn’t.

Other changes include broader housing options and expanded commercial use of the airport stretch.

The public will get to have their say at the Hebron Rotary Centre on November 14th.
