Cape Breton Regional Municipality council and staff are set to address the Law Amendments committee regarding a proposed funding deal at the provincial legislature in Halifax.

Mayor Amanda McDougall says if Bill 340 is passed it would mean a tax hike for CBRM residents, who already have the highest property taxes in Nova Scotia.

In a Facebook post, McDougall says during today’s presentation they will fight for a better funding deal from the government.

Premier Tim Houston has said it’s a good deal for everybody and that other municipalities agree.
