Snowfall warning over in Dryden and Sioux Lookout

By Tim Davidson Oct 27, 2023 | 7:58 AM

All highways in the region are now open after Highway 17 between Dryden and Shabaqua was closed for a couple of hours overnight.

There were a couple of collisions due to the snowy conditions.

Several centimeters of snow fell overnight and this morning, and roads in the region are slippery as crews are only starting to salt and sand.

Motorists are urged to use caution and reduce their speeds, especially if you don’t have your winter tires on yet.

The snowfall warning is now over in the Kenora, Dryden and Sioux Lookout areas and the Special Weather Statement has ended in Fort Frances.

Meanwhile, the transit system in the City of Kenora is on hold for the time being.

First Student, which operates the city bus, say because of the road conditions, the bus has been sliding badly.

Road conditions will be reassessed hourly and the bus will be running if and when conditions improve.
