By Tim Davidson Oct 27, 2023 | 8:48 AM

Kenora will have a presence at an international job fair next month.

The Destination Canada Mobility Forum is taking place in Paris, France and Morocco.

Economic Development Officer Allyson Pele says local business have until Monday to sign up.

“The City of Kenora is sponsoring a position in the event to really highlight Kenora and the job opportunities we have here,” explains Pele.

“It highlights the Francophone Mobility Work Permit Program.  So this is a wrap around service that will really help provide candidates for positions that might be available from employers in Kenora.”

Pele adds they will be represented by the Société Économique de Ontario.

“The call it right now is because the Destination Canada Mobility Forum is available both to in-person sessions or virtual sessions, so the SEO will actually be at these events recruiting on behalf of Kenora.”

Employers in Kenora have found success with hiring through the Francophone Mobility work permit and the wrap-around services that the Société Économique de l’Ontario provides.

“As A&W continues to look at hiring employees, we looked at various options with foreign employees. The SEO program has been a good option as the opportunity to bring a French person to Canada is easy with a good support group.  We currently have one team member from Algeria through SEO. He has fit in wonderfully with our staff compliment and we are encouraged by his skills. We have another team member that is from Morocco and he is currently waiting to get his working Visa. We hope to have him in Kenora working for us early in the new year,” says Randy Nickle, Partner of A&W in Kenora.
