Moncton man faces more drug trafficking charges

A Moncton man is facing more charges in an ongoing drug trafficking investigation in the city.

Mounties began an investigation in January into the trafficking of illegal drugs in Greater Moncton.

In June, officers searched a home on Seaman Street and seized cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, Benzodiazepine, hydromorphone, drug trafficking paraphernalia and money.

A 43-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He pleaded guilty to all three charges in August and was released on conditions pending his sentencing in December.

Police said they arrested the accused again earlier this month for breaching his release conditions. Officers seized quantities of what is believed to be cocaine and methamphetamine, along with drug trafficking paraphernalia.

He is now facing two additional counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, along with a charge of failing to comply with a release order.

The accused was remanded into custody and has a bail hearing set for Thursday.

More details can be found on the New Brunswick RCMP’s website.
