Dozens more New Brunswickers have been admitted to the hospital with COVID-19, according to new data from Public Health.

The latest Respiratory Watch report shows 57 admissions between Oct. 8 and 14, with two people admitted to an intensive care unit.

That was compared to 57 hospitalizations and seven ICU admissions the previous week.

A majority of the patients — 46 of them — were aged 65 and over. There were also seven people aged 45 to 64, three people aged 20 to 44, and one person aged five to 19.

The ICU admissions involved one patient aged 65 and over and one between the ages of 45 and 64.

Three more patients with COVID died in the hospital during that week. All three were aged 65 and over.

There were 155 new COVID cases reported — up from 133 cases the previous week — and the test positivity rate climbed to 17 per cent.

In addition, there were 14 lab-confirmed COVID outbreaks reported, down from 20 the week before.
