Prison time for N.B. man after police seize drugs, firearms, stolen items

A New Brunswick man has been sentenced to more than nine years in prison after police seized drugs, firearms and stolen property.

Mounties said Clayton Townes was recently sentenced to nine years and six months in prison — minus time already served — after being convicted on a total of 33 charges.

Townes was arrested in January 2022 after officers received a request from the Department of Social Development to visit a home on Harvey Road in McAdam.

“While on scene, police observed an unsecured weapon and various drugs in plain view,” police said in a news release at the time.

A subsequent search led to the seizure of quantities of what are believed to be methamphetamine pills, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and fentanyl.

Officers also seized three handguns (including one that was prohibited), four other firearms, several other weapons, money, and a number of stolen items, including several vehicles.
