Poddubny scores 4 in Kenora

A four-goal third period paced the Thunder Bay North Stars to a 6-2 win over the Fort Frances Lakers Friday in Thunder Bay.

The win was Thunder Bay’s third straight after a 1-4 start to the season.

Easton Mikus paced with Stars with a pair of goals scored 46 seconds apart in the third.

EJ Paddington, Owen Doherty, Connor O’Brien and Cohen Tangedal added the other goals.

Clark Scaddan and Evan Kabel picked up their first goals of the season for the Lakers.

In Sioux Lookout, Owen Riffel scored his league-leading 12th and 13th goals of the season as the Bombers dumped the Dryden GM Ice Dogs 5-1.

Jonah Smith, Mitchell Daines and Cedrik Robidoux also scored for the home side.

Geoff Bjarnason had the lone marker for Dryden.

Carter Poddubny scored four times as the Kam River Fighting Walleye defeated the Kenora Islanders in Kenora 9-3.

Podduby notched a pair of goals in the first period where the Walleye raced out to a 4-2 lead.

His other two came late in the third.

Kaden Goodwin, Brydon Bell, Riley Borody, Liam Bell and Braeden Duchesne alos found h back of th net for Kam River.

Braden Swampy, John Paul Scaringi, and Aaron Bertschinger scored for Kenora.

In Spooner, Wisconsin, Dillion Phillips and Maddox Achtor scored first-period goals as the Wilderness hung on for a 2-1 win over the Red Lake Miners.

Matthew MacPherson scored Red Lake’s only goal midway through the third period.

The action in the SIJHL resumes tonight with the matchups.
