A number of Yarmouth Mariners will be heading to Ontario next month for the Eastern Canada Cup Challenge.

The event is a showcase for Junior A players in Eastern Canada.

Goaltender Thomas Fontaine, defender Kyle McGuire and forwards Nathan Carter and Jerome Gilbert were named to Team Eastlink South.

Head Coach Laurie Barron will be behind the bench.

“It’s a big honour. I was lucky enough to be able to go on 3 other occasions. The hockey is first class, lots of different schools and clubs are there looking for players,” said Barron.

Mariners trainer Tessa Churchill-Morehouse was also named to the team staff.

Barron says a lot of players have a goal of playing university hockey, whether it’s NCAA or U Sports.

Yarmouth is in New Brunswick for 3 games this weekend, starting tonight in Campbellton.
