A province-wide arrest warrant is out for a 52-year-old man at the root of an emergency alert.

Colchester County RCMP are looking for Darren Trevor Jackson of Truro in connection with a shooting incident in Brookfield on October 15.

It’s in relation to an incident near a motel on Highway 2. Officers learned that a man had shot at a woman and her vehicle. She was uninjured. However, a second woman, who had been waiting in a vehicle, was injured as a result of the gunfire.

RCMP officers later located the victims at a hospital in Truro and confirmed that one victim, a 30-year-old Truro woman, had suffered serious injuries and the other, a 29-year-old Truro woman, was not hurt.

On October 16, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the emergency alert was cancelled as investigators determined there was no immediate threat to public safety given the targeted nature of the shooting.

Later in the day, Jackson’s vehicle was located in Truro and seized.

He is facing numerous charges including Attempted Murder (2 counts), Aggravated Assault, Use of a Firearm, Pointing a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Breach of a Prohibition Order (2 counts) and Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited.

Jackson is described as 5-foot-10, 205lbs, has greying hair, and brown eyes.

Police have continued with their efforts to locate Jackson and continue to ask the public to call in any sightings. Jackson may be armed, and anyone who sees him, should refrain from approaching him.

Anyone with information on Jackson’s whereabouts is asked to contact Colchester County District RCMP at 902-893-6820. S
