Youth Wellness Hub fundraising for renovations

By Tim Davidson Oct 17, 2023 | 1:17 PM

The Kenora Youth Wellness Hub is getting a helping hand to fix up their building on Main Street South.

The Skyline Group of Companies has donated $42,000 towards a renovation project thanks to a charity golf tournament.

Tess Lavelle-Sutton is the program manager at the Youth Hub and says they have ambitious plans.

“We’re trying to get a new front and back façade so that we can be more seen in the community,” explains Lavelle-Sutton.

“Our façades right now are a little bit dated.  We would like to build more accessibility in this space with washrooms, through opening up entrances, so people can get through.  We have had youth in the past with accessibility needs.”

She adds there are a couple of other additions they would like to add to the facility.

“Things we are hoping to implement includes a laundry room. So that we can provide laundry on site for youth.  A full functioning kitchen because right now we’re working with just a fridge and microwave.  As well as a semi-private room, so we can implement more life-skills building activities.”

Skyline, which provided the donation, manages real estate properties and clean energy projects.
