New supportive housing project to open soon

By Tim Davidson Oct 17, 2023 | 12:54 PM

The Kenora District Services Board is hoping another supportive housing project in Kenora will be open soon.

CAO Henry Wall says they are working with the Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services on a 30 unit building behind the Kenora Armories.

“Our team along with OAHS and community partners, like WNHAC, are already working on tenant selection,” says Wall.

“That’s really exciting to know that this year we’re going to have tenants moving into that building.”

Wall says they are hesitant to say when the building will be ready for occupancy because all the systems have to be ready first.

“The partners have just been a bit hesitant to make firm promises as to when (it will open), but the goal is to have people move in this year.”

Last week, the Kenora District Services Board opened it’s new support apartment project at 10 Matheson Street South.
