Over $130 million in energy rebates to help more than 450,000 households

More than $130 million in energy rebates are expected to benefit over 450,000 households in the province.

Thanks to the Your Energy Rebate Program which began in 2006.

The program offers a 10 percent rebate on residential energy use for those who have paid HST, not only for home heating and electricity, but purchasing propane, natural gas, wood products and coal and kerosene also count.

All Nova Scotians who pay for home energy are eligible, regardless of their income or whether they own or rent.

Application forms are available at Access Nova Scotia centres, online or by calling 902-424-5200 or 1-800-670-4357.

“Some people may not be getting the rebate automatically, and we want to ensure they know it’s available to them,” said Allan MacMaster, Minister of Finance and Treasury Board. “We want everyone who is eligible to benefit from this rebate to help with their energy costs.”
