Local sports for Monday, October 16th

All three football teams from northwestern Ontario won their second last games of the regular season.

The Beaver Brae Broncos improved to 6-0 with a 51-6 victory over the St. John’s Tigers Friday afternoon in Winnipeg.

The Fort Frances Muskies record went to 5-1 after a 41-1 trouncing of the Churchill Bulldogs.

And the Dryden Eagles raising their record to 4-2 after 40-1 win in their homecoming game against the St. Norbert Celtics.

This Thursday, the regular season will wrap up with the Broncos heading to Winnipeg to take on the Churchill Bulldogs and the Eagles will kick off against the St. John’s Tigers.

The Muskies will wrap up their schedule at home on Friday against the Daniel McIntyre Maroons.

 

A tough road trip for the Kenora U18 AAA Thistles.

There were in Souris over weekend and dropped both games to the Southwest Cougars.

The Thistles were shut out 9-0 on Sunday afternoon and were beaten 7-3 Saturday night.

Jackson Tucker, Bo Gartzke, and Tallen Caron scored for Kenora in that game.

The Thistles next game is on Friday when they head to Winnipeg to take on the Thrashers.
