Riverview residents will get their first opportunity this weekend to vote in a municipal byelection.
Advanced polls will be open on Saturday, October 14 to cast a ballot to fill a vacant Councillor at Large seat for Town Council.
Russell Hayward stepped down from the role earlier this year, which prompted the byelection.
Elections NB Spokesperson Paul Harpelle says polls will be open from 10 am until 8 pm at the Coverdale Rec Centre.
“Hopefully a lot of the people living in the area have already received their voter information card that would have gone out a little earlier. Four individuals who have stepped forward to offer as candidates,” Harpelle says.
If anyone wants information prior to going to vote, they can visit the Elections NB website and they’ll find a complete list of the candidates.
“For electors who did not receive a voter information card in the mail, it’s not a problem. They can still show up to the Coverdale Centre and present identification to be added to the list,” Harpelle adds.
The official by-election date is Monday, October 23rd.
Advance voting for upcoming byelections will also be held in:
• Beaurivage (councillor-at-large, councillor for Ward 6)
• Fredericton Junction (mayor)
• Grand Lake (councillor for Ward 4)
• Hanwell (councillor-at-large, councillor for Ward 4)
• Neguac (councillor-at-large)
• Southern Victoria (councillor for Ward 2)
