Local sports for October 12th

The St. Thomas Aquinas court sport teams made a clean sweep of the Rainy River Owls on Wednesday.

The Saints senior and junior boys volleyball teams won their games in straight sets.

The TA junior boys won in two straight games (25-13, 25-22) while the Saints senior boys swept the Owls in three straight (25-19, 25-11, 25-22).

It was the same on the basketball court as St. Thomas Aquinas senior girls beat up on Rainy River 42-13.  Sophie Muise led the scoring attack with 15 points.

The TA junior girls cruised to a 36-22 victory.  Julia Clark led the way with 10 points.

 

At the All-Ontario golf championships, St. Thomas Aquinas is being represented by Jaxon Savage.  He shot a 97 in his first round of play yesterday.

 

In the Special Olympics Monday Night Bowling League, Scott Malmo led the way with a score of 227.  He recorded a “turkey”, three strikes in a row, in both of the games he played.

Malmo was followed by Brian Fournier at 220 and Daley Ross at 204.

On the women’s side,  Jody Derouard led the way at 163, Tammy Wright was second at 141, and Megan Wheatstone third at 132.

This was the second session for the new bowling season.
