A ribbon cutting ceremony for Kenora’s newest building.

An apartment complex has officially opened at the corner of Matheson Street and McClellan Avenue.

Henry Wall is the CAO of the Kenora District Services Board and says the project is basically on time.

“We had hoped to have this a bit sooner, but with COVID still lingering around with supply chains, but still, to talk about this was started in April (of 2022) and here we are in October is pretty awesome,” points out Wall.

Wall says the new apartment building has 20 units and about half of it is occupied right now.

“We’re moving in people in stages just so that, one,  it’s a new building, so we want to get used to it as well.  There’s always things that happen when you open up a new building in terms of, are all the mechanical systems working the way they should.  Is there hot water?”

The other units will be moved into shortly.

The provincial government contributed $3.8 million towards construction of the building.
